Replacement Footage Counter Template

To the right is a footage counter that reads out in remaining film in minutes rather than fee.  It is only designed to be accurate with 2-inch (50mm) core loads. A standard 200′ load runs for 5.5 minutes, indicated by the green dot below the 5-minute mark. The blue and red dots that sit near the start of the red zone indicate 30 and 15 seconds remaining respectively.

To install, unscrew the cover of the footage counter, unscrew the plate holding the old counter label, cut out the new counter to the shape of the plate and glue it in overtop of your old label. Have a roll of film of measured length (36 feet 1 minute) in the mag and then re-attach the counter plate.  Position the plate so that the counter label reads the same value as the film of known running time that you previously loaded.  Also available: Footage Counter in MS Word Format.

R-16 ACL Ground Glass & Light Meter Template

To the right is a scan of the Regular-16 ground glass design. On the left is the 7-LED mask for models with the built-in light meter (ACL 1.5 and ACL II).  Downloadthe file by clicking on the image and selecting “Save As…” from your browser File menu.

SUPER-16 Ground Glass Design for Common 1.85 and HDTV

The Ground Glass design illustrated to the right is “HDTV / 1.85 / 1.66 for Super-16″. The heavy box in the middle is HDTV with common top/bottom for 1.85, but because sides are cropped in theatrical projection, it makes good sense to also use the HDTV sides for safe 1.85 1.66 Theatrical and will be seen in HDTV theatrical composition.

Protect the Full Frame from mic booms etc. on top, bottom, and sides.  The full aperture will be projected in European transmission when viewed on LCD-type TV sets that do not underscan.
