Replacing The Drive Rubber
A small rubber washer ( MIN 19 Drive Rubber) couples the motor to the drive shaft on the body of the camera. Spares haven’t been made since the early 1980s; however, it isn’t all that difficult to make this piece in your garage (or by a local machine shop). It is made of hard-but-flexible rubber (not the rock-solid washers that fit in some water taps) that you should be able to find in some form at a large hardware store, (such as Home Depot in the USA):
- Drive Rubber MIN 19 (to scale)
- DIMENSIONS: Diameter- 9.5mm Thickness- 3mm
- FOUR HOLES: Diameter Each – 1.5mm
The holes are spaced at 90 degrees and are centered approximately 1.25mm from the edge. To make a template, draw a 9.5mm circle and inscribe a cross perfectly centered. Place a 1.5mm hole on each line of the cross, with the center 1.25mm from the edge.
Note For Installation: 2 holes are for the pins in the camera’s shaft, the other two holes are for the pins in the motor. Don’t use the same holes for both, which would defeat the purpose of the rubber absorbing shock.
