    ACL Ground Glass

    ACL Ground Glass

Some early ACLs may not have the Ground Glass glued onto the metal plate (91) of the Prism Assembly. The Ground Glass Prism (98) was originally intended to be held firmly in place by the two tiny plates on either side (92, 93). However it is still possible for the Prism to slide down and out of alignment under duress, even with these plates tightly in place.

Later models added a few drops of adhesive along the top and bottom of the Prism where it meets the plate (91) as an extra precaution, particularly on an ACL I. The next time your camera gets an overhaul, remind your tech to make certain that the Prism has had that extra bit of security added. Otherwise, take care not to bang the camera around too much!
