Checking The Timing
The timing on a camera is how the film moves through the gate in relation to the shutter. Film should only be moving while the shutter is closed. If the film moves while the shutter is open, the images will be blurry and your footage will be ruined. You should have the timing checked by a technician as part of regular maintenance, however the test below is something you can easily do before a shoot. This will tell you if the camera has a severe timing problem.
See also the related page for resetting the timing.
